As part of the implementation of the EU Cybersecurity Act and the European Cybersecurity Certification Framework, the DSA is actively participating in the European Cybersecurity Certification Group – ECCG). Within the ECCG, the European approach to various matters related to the cybersecurity certification of ICT products, services and processes, is being developed.
On Thursday 28/1/21, the DSA participated in a meeting of the ECCG regarding the new cloud security certification scheme that is being prepared, which has been put forth for public consultation. This scheme will form the basis for a pan-European approach for the cybersecurity certification of cloud services, on which thousands of businesses and citizens depend, both within Cyprus and in other countries.
With the widespread use of certification in the future, and the promotion of certified services in Cyprus and the EU, businesses and consumers will be in a much better position to select secure services that have been certified to defined security assurance levels, increasing trust in such services and reaping the associated digital benefits. The DSA is actively building up its knowledge and capabilities in this area, having taken on the role of the National Cybersecurity Certification Authority of Cyprus.
