On Friday, October 25, 2024, the informative workshop organized by the Digital Security Authority (DSA) in cooperation with the Cyprus Standards Organisation (CYS), on "Cybersecurity in the AI ERA", was a great success.
The workshop focused on the challenges and new developments in the field of cybersecurity that are emerging with the development of AI, providing valuable insights into the developments and requirements in the field of standardization.
The workshop was opened with greetings from the Deputy Commissioner for Communications, Mr. Petros Galidis and from the Director General of CYS, Ms. Athena Panagiotou, who welcomed the participants and expressed their thanks for their close cooperation in joint actions in the field of standardization. This was followed by presentations from distinguished speakers, offering the audience a thorough analysis of current developments such as analysis of the AI Act, analysis of requirements for Conformity Assessment of AI and Cybersecurity systems, process of developing harmonized standards and why we need them. Also, the role of standards in ensuring the safe use of AI was presented, an analysis of the use of AI in the field of Cybersecurity in the context of Cyber Attack Response Teams (CSIRTs).
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers, while the need for further information and participation in standardization by the Cypriot industry to enhance cybersecurity in the field of AI was evident.
The workshop was held at the ICT Academy of the Communications Commissioner's Office.
